Thought it would be fun to do a Sunday Things edition just to highlight my favorite things this week! Can't wait to hear yours too!
Nutrition can be SO confusing these days. Gluten free. Meat free. Dairy free. Sugar free. Low carb. It's a market SO focused on elimination - and while all that is a post just in itself - today I'm going to touch on cutting out dairy. I by NO MEANS am a licensed nutritionist - all I can share is my own story and background. I do recommend that before you start any radical changes to your diet changes that you consult your physician.
To be truthful I've never been a "good" milk drinker. It was always offered at meals growing up and I would choose water over milk every time. I would have milk on my cereal or in food, but just honestly wasn't a fan of the taste. Chocolate milk WAS a treat however! I did like other dairy products such as yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese and of course... ice cream! During my college years (I can't exactly recall when) I realized that all of a sudden... creamy milk products did NOT agree with me! Anything rich and creamy such as cottage cheese, cheesy soups & dips, ice cream, etc - well we won't go into specifics..but it just didn't digest. When I brought it up at a standard physical all my physician could tell me was.." well that sometimes just happens" - so... how did I DEAL when I "couldn't have" anything dripping with cheese or my FAVORITE..COTTAGE CHEESE?!?!!? - How have I adjusted to life? HOW DO I LIVE?!?!
I hear this ALL the time.. "but Marti - eating healthy is SO EXPENSIVE..." I would like to reply..." well - what is your health WORTH to you? Real food can be more expensive than processed junk - but eating healthier does NOT have to blow your bank account! Here are a few tips to save you some money at the grocery store...
