Well my last post featured my IBS journey up until this point... and mentioned that I had some blood drawn for a food sensitivity test done. Well...the results are in!
Food Sensitivity Test Updates
Food sensitivity tests are something to take with a grain of salt - as results may vary according to each test. This test used Igg sensitivity which tested my blood against 96 foods to see if there were any antibodies. How they reacted to each food declares the level of sensitivity - either 1, 2 or 3. Cutting out the high sensitivity foods may or may not help my digestion, but to me it's worth a try since I have tried so many other things! Also the foods that you eat regularly are likely to come back as a higher sensitivity (so keep that in mind as well!) The test that I had done also tested for 12 common food ALLERGIES - allergy meaning a reaction of hives, air way closures or another extreme reaction.
I'm happy to say (but not surprised) that I didn't have any true food ALLERGIES..but sadly (and not surprised) that I have many food sensitivities). The top offender... dairy! Which I already knew! I've stayed away from most dairy now for about 9 years - so this DEFINITELY proves that it is a true sensitivity since I don't have much of this in my current diet besides some ice cream treats here and there (which I take lactaid for)
The other food sensitivities:
Egg whites and egg yolks (the highest next to cheese, milk, cottage cheese and yogurt)
EGGS! Which I have EVERY day and LOVE - broke my heart... so I've decided to cut them out for two months. I know that eggs are baked into things, are an ingredient in MANY things - so I'm not going to obsess or having them in these things...I'm just going to NOT eat them in their true form and stay away as much as I can! If I cut all of these things out I would go mad... so I'm just going to start with eggs first and limit the amount of these other things and see if I notice a difference!
Almonds didn't come back as a sensitivity..thank goodness...because I LOVE almond butter!
Anywho..Just wanted to update you all like I said I would!
I'm curious now..
Have you done a food sensitivity test? and if so which one did you do?
What did you learn?
Have you ever done a food elimination diet?
