Maybe you know me ... maybe you have followed me for awhile ... or maybe you have NO idea who I am and just happened to stumble across my blog. Well - after about two years of having an official blog it's time for a fresh start. and it's time for me to introduce myself and tell you more about ME!
A Fresh Start and I'm NOT Waiting for a New Year - it's time for you to meet ME
Alright so here goes nothing...
Hi! My name is Marti - (that's how I'm supposed to start right?) I currently live in North Dakota (and have for the past ten years), but I grew up in a TINY town in Minnesota. Like - we are talking graduating class of 34. (told you it was small...) After high school I went to North Dakota State University (GO BISON!) and graduated with my Bachelor's Degree of Nursing. I've now been a Registered Nurse for about over six years. (holy cow that makes me feel oooolllddd)
I started my nursing career working in Cardiac Intensive Care. I was there for a bit over two years before taking a job at a different hospital where I currently work in the PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit - you know..where people always say the weird things while waking up ;) ) - and I also work in the Day Surgery Unit getting patient ready for their surgery or in the Discharge Area where they are sent home from after their procedure.
During nursing school I fell in love with running - into an obsession some may say! But it became a get-away for me during the STRESS of it all. I have since done various 5ks and 10ks, three half marathons and two full marathons. While training for the last big race that I did (was all the way back in 2013 in the picture above!) I can openly say that running was beginning to make me feel like I wasn't "enough" Like if my scheduled run was under an hour I wondered... "what is even the point?" - CRAZY right?? SOOO in my head I decided when this marathon is over I'm going to challenge myself by TRYING SOMETHING NEW. No excuses.
Well it took me until the following summer to finally dabble in a workout called PiYo! I have NEVER been a fan of yoga or pilates (dude. I can't sit still for that shit!) but this time it was different. Another challenge - working out at home? Wasn't that for old ladies? And seriously .. does that even COUNT if you don't go to the gym? Well... turns out that you can get a killer workout from home believe it or not... and here I am over three years later helping people get started on their own paths to fitness with workouts they can do from home OR at the gym.
So yes. I represent team beachbody and help others get hooked up and started with their programs, products and LOVE the community of people that it has brought into my life - not to mention the amazing travel adventure. But does that mean that all I do is preach meal replacement smoothies, home workouts and post sweaty selfies all day every day?
Nope. I maybe started out like that.. but that is not who I am. It is a PART of me and I am passionate about the company because I STRONGLY admire their values.
But I also workout at the gym.
I use other products too.
I do use Shakeology daily, but I eat all my regular meals and then some
I believe there is something out there for everyone! and there is not ONE RIGHT WAY to be healthy.
Healthy is your OWN definition - here is mine:
Healthy to me is moving your body because you LOVE it and not because you hate it. It's by doing something that makes you FEEL good and although sometimes it's hard to motivate yourself to get going... it's something that makes you feel amazing when you are done. Healthy to me is eating your veggies, drinking water, getting in your vitamin - but also eating and drinking the things that you love! I will never give up my favorite cocktails, my daily treats, chocolate, coffee treats and I'm going to eat ice cream and french fries when I feel like it dang it!
I love helping others and sharing with them about my health and fitness journey and even more so I love hearing about the accomplishments of my clients. I'm not here to sell someone some workout or nutritional supplement they won't use. I'm not here to spam anyone into signing up for coaching because it is for "Everyone."
I'm here because I truly love what I do. Helping YOU feel confident. Feel Happy. Feeling in your best mindset.
So why the blog? Well...I've been obsessed with following blogs since before it was even cool. haha! I would love to have you follow me. How? SO I figure if I love blogs so much why not create my own! Here you will find me post about daily life, weekly recaps, things I'm currently loving and recommend, some recipes, and HOPEFULLY some valuable tools and tips to help you get started on YOUR healthy journey too.
The last two years of blogging it's cool to look back and see how my interests have changed and evolved. I'm definitely a nutrition nerd and you will find plenty of that here. I struggle with GI issues so I'm a bit obsessed with gut AND brain health - Yup. I struggle with anxiety too. (oh no... - did I JUST admit that?) Stay tuned for nutrition education on the blog.
I love running but other workouts too. Lately I have been getting in about 3-4 "formal" workouts each week. And that is enough for me. I will always be REAL with you in my workout and nutrition advice too.
You will also find here some of my personal life - My bf and I have been together nearly EIGHT YEARS? I know right? He's amazing ... my best friend for sure. :) - I have amazing parents, two sisters and a handful of nieces and nephews too - so you will probably hear me talk about them too.
Oh lordy I LOVE to bake. Usually cookies. SO you can watch for that too.
Well there you go! there is is.. a LITTLE bit about me - I look forward to getting to know each other better...
