Seriously you guys - are you NOT drooling looking at this picture! Pretty much sums up all the greatness of the fourth of July - minus the campfire! (But it tastes like a melty s'more in your mouth. Yup. S'mores party in your mouth!
Wanted to create something fun, easy, quick and DELICIOUS for the fourth of July weekend at the lake! The family loves it when I bring treats and I love doing it! Plus its fun to experiment in the kitchen and see what I can come up with! I knew I wanted something no bake and I knew it had to be s'more themed. There is just something about chocolate, grahams and marshmallows that screams patriotic.
If you are looking for something low calorie, low sugar, etc.... these are not it. #sorrynotsorry These are a definite treat!
No sure if you can even call this a "recipe" because it was just easy! The hardest part was the clean up - but I promise they will be worth it!
No Bake S'mores Bars!
Sprayed 8x8 or 9x9 bar pan
5 cups Golden Grahams cereal*
4 T butter (1/2 stick)
1 bag of mini marshmallows
1 t vanilla
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 Hershey's chocolate bar chopped
Open your cereal box and bag so you are ready to rock when things are getting melty!
On the stove in a larger pot slowly melt the butter on low stirring continuously. Add the bag of marshmallows and STIR STIR STIR! Keep stirring until you get a MELTY goodness!
Shut off the burner and slide the pot off the hot burner. Add 1 t vanilla and stir carefully. The mixture may bubble when adding the vanilla so please be careful not to burn yourself! When this is all mixed thoroughly add the cereal and mix carefully (so you don't crush it all) - stir in the chocolate chips!
Add the bar mixture to a greased and prepared 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Spread evenly in the pan. Works great to have clean hands that are sprayed with cooking spray to spread the mixture evenly.
Sprinkle the pieces of the chopped up Hershey bar over the top of the bars. You may have to gently push them into the top of the bars so that they stick.
Let cool before cutting and enjoying!! (if you can!) oh and licking the spoon is necessary!
*feel free to use any other kind of cereal and add more to the mix as well if you choose - all depending on how gooey you want your bars to be.
Do you like s'mores?
How do you like your campfire marshmallows... light brown and gently toasted? Or burnt?
