Summer is such an awesome time of year - so many events such as parties, lake time, fun with friends - and for many lots of travel! Don't let all of this FUN ruin your health goals! As I'm traveling to Nashville next week I want to share with you my plan for staying accountable while on the road!
Use your big beautiful purse/bag to your advantage and pack snacks! Fail to Plan or Plan to Fail! What snacks am I packing?
- Shakeology Packets - so easy to throw into shaker cup with water and ice! OR have the Starbucks barista mix you up something! (my fav: vent scoop ice, 3 shots espresso, water, chocolate shakeology and have them blend it!)
- packets of peanut butter
- protein bars - no not perfect but work in a pinch! (my favs: pure protein, luna, balance, or homemade with Shakeology)
Surprisingly places like gas stations have some pretty good snack options these days! I have seen: jerky, popcorn, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, protein/snack bars, fresh fruit!
When eating out get what you want and make it work for your goals! Cutting back on yellow containers - ask for no bun or remove half of it! Ask for extra veggies - make substitutions. Dare to be different!
Be active! All that time in the car or on a plane does more harm then good! On a long car trip plan breaks and get out and stretch and walk around. PLAN YOUR WORKOUTS! Many hotels have workout centers so pack your shoes and mobile device. Try an online workout service like BB On demand! (ask me about that) that way you can get a streaming workout from ANYWHERE - dare to even do it outside :) Find fun ways to be active in a new place! Map out a run/walk, rent a bike, go kayaking - (remember to be safe! Take someone with you, take your phone, pay attention to your surroundings and tell someone where you are headed and what time you plan to return)
Traveling can make staying accountable to your goals and health a challenge - but use it to your advantage! It's an awesome opportunity to explore a new place!
