It was my favorite person's birthday this week AND on valentine's day = extra celebrating this week....here is a recap of my week so far! VDAY, BDAY, SHOP FINDS & STUFF FROM THE WEEKIt was B's birthday this week on valentine's day also! So I gave him his valentine on Monday and then we celebrated his birthday on Tuesday! Monday night he came home to a surprise...I filled out room full of balloons! haha A dozen red heart balloons to be exact and attached notes, random sayings with candy and just stuff that reminds me of him and or us in general! (and a card too because I love cards!) How breathtaking are these roses? For real. I came home Tuesday to a dozen of these beauties!!! Not to mention a card (always make me teary), CHOCOLATES and a valentine balloon :) I brought the flowers into my office today so I can look at them and smell them as I write. Flowers inspire me. I think I need to make it a habit to ALWAYS have fresh ones on the table or in the house somewhere! The last few years we have stayed in on B's birthday and I left it up to him this year! We ended up at a local pub and it was soooo good! I had a sandwich that had a grilled chicken breast, bruchetta tomatoes and onions and a garlic aeloili sauce and of course SWEET POTATO WAFFLE FRIES served with a special sauce. so. dang. good. B had their special of prime rib and he said it was tasty! And it must have been...because it disappeared! Monday night we had breakfast for dinner! I thought B deserved some roses...so I made bacon roses! Has anyone else ever tried this? You roll up bacon and hold them together with two toothpicks. Then I set them in a mini muffin tin to catch the fat that drips off (I don't want it in the bottom of my oven!) and baked at 400 degrees for 20 minutes! Fun right? I think when I do it again I will definitely bake at 425 for a few extra minutes...I like my bacon a bit crispier! Just started this book this week and I am loving it so far! I love books that have a bit of fluff but are also No BS too!! Snack I'm loving is sea salt popcorn with a few dark chocolate chips in it -SERIOUSLY go try it right now! We had a valentines day potluck at work on tuesday so I brought my "famous" Shakeology balls! I made them valentines day style with sprinkles and a few chopped cupcake hershey kisses! Have you tried them? They are like white chocolate kisses with a sweet crunch in the middle! I think it's super fun to try the seasonal treats they come out with! Random snack finds at Homegoods! I'm excited to try them! Buffalo seasoned walnuts, spicy cayenne crispy chickpeas and these bean crisps that are dill flavored! I will definitely let you know my review on them all...have you tried any of these? When I was in Homegoods there are TWO aisles of these "superfood" powders. Here are two examples! Moringa and Spirulina which have AMAZING benefits. Spirulina: 12.99 Moringa: 9.99 Spirulina is a natural algae and is commonly called "the most nutrient dense food in the planet" .high in protein .high in vitamin b1 known to help with energy .high in iron and has 26 times the amount of calcium in milk!!! Moringa is a small tree in the middle east that is known to them as the "tree of life!" .it fights free radicals like cancer and other diseases .it literally preserves your cells .fights inflammation (diabetes, obesity, heart disease and arthritis) .supports brain health! My Shakeology that I add to my day in smoothie form mostly has BOTH of these in it! And I'm paying $4 per serving and get BOTH of these greens and 68 more! Been thinking a lot lately about balance and what I mean by it. I'm so so guilty of wanting to do it all: workout hardcore every day, food prep a home cooked meal and pack all lunches every day, reach out to a ton of people each day and show them some sort of value...connect with them and help them in their health. I want to be the best girlfriend to B. I want my house perfectly clean and decorated. I want to find a fun pinterest project to make. I want to bake a homemade treat. PHEW. Are you exhausted and overwhelmed yet? Because I am. In all honesty sometimes I STILL struggle with this. I just want to do it all. Be the best to everyone. But I'm realizing you can do it all ...but NOT all at the same time. Something that has been helping me is to make points of focus each week! Here is an example: Nutrition: Shakeology every day, Pack lunches three days a week for me and B, two cooked meals together Fitness: 4 workouts this week and I will NOT be hard on myself if it doesn't go as well as planned! Personal Development: Continue to read my two devotion books and my new one "Get Over your Damn Self" Business: Add ten new people to my network, send out a newsletter, check in with challengers daily, help two new people get started on their health journey Personal/Family/Relationship: Make sure I call mom and dad at least twice, date night with B, unplug at least 2 nights this week Alright....your turn! Do you struggle with balance? How do you deal?
What did you do for valentine's day? or are you anti-valentine's day? Any fun new snack ideas?
