Life is always evolving - I talk a lot about having a WHY to my challengers and to my coaches and how your WHY will change over time. A lot of your WHY and your journey may start out as a physical journey, but I guarantee that that will eventually transition over...to an emotional, spiritual or mental one.
OR your REASON for your WHY of your physical journey will evolve.
From reasons based on vanity...to health, strength, for your family or even for your future family
Struggles to Strengths
I”m one of THOSE people that always wants perfection. I would like to call myself a "recovering perfectionist"
YES I realize it is TOTALLY ridiculous because perfection really doesn’t exist! I would ideally like to live in my own routine box. I think many of you can relate to at least WANTING that anyway. (i mean it sounds pretty ideal in our pretty little minds, right?)
But then ISH happens that totally throws you for a loop... The end of 2016 did that to me.
On December 13th I received a call that my dad was on his way to the ER for “shoulder pain” - As a nurse that worked in Cardiac ICU AND knowing my dad and his ways I knew this wasn’t anything to be taken lightly. To make a long and dramatic of a nightmare shortened - He ended up in the ICU that night - the same one that I used to care for patients in - with extra IVs, equipment to help his heart pump and he was being prepped for heart surgery within the next 8 hours.- Fast forward to the 17th - not even four days later he was discharged on post op day three from open heart surgery. He is doing absolutely amazing. He truly is my hero - which I knew LONG before this happened. But while that is a HUGE victory I know this is just the beginning of many things coming for our family.
I have cried many tears. From those WHY me moments... to tears of joy and thankfulness.
So why am I sharing this? I”m not sharing this to make you feel sad for me or to bring you down. I’m sharing this because you guys... this is LIFE. Life is real. There are GOING to be scary things like that- that have you rolling with the punches, struggling to breathe and you barely feel like you are staying above water. I promise you life does not slow down.
Whatever struggle you are going through or have gone through I want you to think about it. Write it down. Make a damn list if you need to. You may even have enough to fill a page.
How can these things HELP someone else? What have these struggles TAUGHT you??
Think about it. Some of our struggles continue to linger - self doubt, lack of confidence, negative mindselt...
Find the people that are going through the same things and team up. How can you help each other?
Every day is a fresh start.
Every week is a fresh start.
This is a fresh start to a new YEAR even.
Please stop waiting for the next day...the next monday or the next year - because today is YOUR day when you make it just that.
My painful and terrifying experiences havetaught me to slow down. Soak in the people and moments in life that truly matter. Hustle hard at times. Relax and totally unplug at other times. Let the small stuff go. You can’t be responsible for everyone else. You have to let go of control of the things that are unnecessarily stressing you. Roll with the punches. Even in the painful moments where it is hard to understand the struggle you have to hold close to this “Your mess will become your message”
And above all else this is something I’m keeping at the forefront of 2017…
“Perfect doesn’t get better.”
What struggles have you gone through? What is your word or phrase for 2017? How have your struggles in life made you stronger?
