so you MAY or may NOT be a morning person - but i've read COUNTLESS articles about how successful people in this world are the ones up before everyone else! Getting a head start on your day is SUCH an amazing feeling! I know that we are all wired differently - some naturally are great at mornings and others would much rather stay up late or all night. NOT this girl. I was definitely wired for mornings - i feel more alive and creative early in the day! No matter WHAT time of day you are "wired for" - here are my reasons for loving mornings and why you will love them more too.
1. "Calm before the storm. There is a moment of peacefulness in the mornings before the world is awake. I use it for my personal development reading and to soak up this moment before the chaos of the working world begins. It helps keep me centered and puts my mind in the right place for the day. I have way too many favorite books (naw..I'm ok with it) - reading about leadership, mindset, devotions, marketing & positivity is so purposeful and just 15 to 30 minutes each day has literally changed my life...what if the whole world did this?? - my book collection has definitely grown within the past year..and this isn't even all of them! (can't forget a different shelf, those downloaded on my nook, audibles and podcasts)
2. Coffee. Do I really need to explain? Most night I set the coffee pot so that all I have to do is push the button in the morning! YES I could set it to just start on it's own..but I just get some sort of gratification when pushing that button! Coffee is part of my morning routine - you can find something to look forward to for YOU too! Make it something SPECIAL. to me - coffee feels special and it feels like a treat to be able to sip it (ok CHUG haha) in the quiet mornings by the light of my lamp. Try tea if you aren't a coffee drinker (but I still don't understand how you couldn't love it ;) )- find something that feels special to you. My favorite is just black French Roast Starbucks beans freshly ground by me! I have a thing for coffee mugs too ... it's the QUOTES that get me every time! - i created my little coffee spot on my counter that is continually evolving...
3. Time to gather my thoughts. Its the time of the day I feel most creative. Candle light + coffee + personal development set my mind in the best place before I start my day. It gives me ideas for posts, for my challenge groups and inspires me to be a better friend, girlfriend, mentor for my team and coach to my clients. Even if I can just have this TEN minutes in the morning my day goes SO much better. Find a morning routine that works for you. Maybe its making your focused items list for the day - or maybe its making a brain dump list. Its all about experimenting and trying different ideas and routines to find what makes you the most productive and leaves you the most fulfilled.
4, Workout before the rest of the day happens! If I don't get my workout done in the morning it most likely won't happen! I like my coffee..breakfast and then to move myself. Depending on what time I need to head to work I will either work out at home or at the gym! The gym usually happens on the weekends for their treadmill use and during the week my workouts happen in the basement. I've been recently loving my Beachbody on Demand account which allows me access to a library of workouts I can do from anywhere with internet and a device. I have ALL the workout programs on there I have purchased in the past as well as thousands of dollars worth of others! I have lately been loving Hammer and Chisel, 21 Day Fix Extreme and 22 Min Hard Corps as they are EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE!
5. Breakfast! I LOVE breakfast! For the record I will eat breakfast foods like eggs, pancakes, oats, french toast, omelettes ANY time of day. I seriously crave eggs. (yes i know i'm different) I always wake up starving - I know not all people are like this and you have to find your OWN pattern of eats, but eating breakfast is something I look forward to. Find a favorite breakfast item for the morning. Stop making the excuse that you don't have time. MAKE time. There are PLENTY of ways to do the prep work and these pancakes literally take me 10 minutes to make! Breakfast gets the metabolism going early on in the day and I find that when I have a hearty breakfast I make better food choices the rest of the day.
