Time to for another real and raw post! I've been getting asked quite a bit this week what I'm doing for workouts and where I'm "headed" in my blog/business - and personal goals too - so thought I would share. My mind has been a CLUSTER eff this week so since I have a quiet weekend planned I'm determined to get my head on straight (more).
Currently - Nutrition, Goals, Workouts & Mindset
Mentally I've been very overwhelmed - I always have too many damn ideas and things I WANT to do - but my body just can't keep up and I literally have to TELL MYSELF to slow down and tell myself to focus on what is important one day at a time. Something that has been helping me is to choose FIVE TOP THINGS to make a priority that day and do them. AND if it's something that takes LESS than five minutes instead of adding it to a physical or mental to do list I just do it NOW and get it done! That has definitely seemed to help.
If you know me you know I always want to be EVERYTHING to EVERYONE. I want to be the best daughter, nurse, coworker, girlfriend and friend that I can be. I get so much out of caring for other people - and I think it's a coping mechanism. It's easier to focus on making someone else's day better than to focus on me. I wish I didn't but I can definitely say that even thought I'm a positive and joyful person that I always have days that I silently struggle with anxiety. We have been going through some personal tough things in my family and most days I just brush it off and try to deal with it but a few times this week I have had times where I just start to cry and I just have to let it out and then I carry on. Sometimes you just need a cry to feel better. No shame in it. It's hard for me to type that and even admit it out loud. It's hard for me to ask for help. But I've been asking for it more. I'm knocking down the wall I put up - I know now that it is OK to not be strong all the time.
Nutritionally I have been keeping things very simple. I choose a protein, veggie, starch and fat at each meal. In the above was a Costco grilled chicken patty (found in the freezer section), steamed broccoli (from a bag found in the produce aisle in the grocery store), roasted butternut squash - I bought the pre-cut found in the refrigerated room at Costco and bake in the oven at 425 for about 30-40 minutes - then I sprinkled some daiya non dairy cheese on my chicken and squash and added ghee and cinnamon to the squash and more ghee with sea salt and pepper on the broccoli. (condiments are trader joe's ketchup, buffalo sauce and bolthouse ranch)
You can read more about my GI Journey here - This week my digestion and regularity has sucked. I'm still doing daily miralax and fiber gummies and a probiotic without much result. I just ordered THIS probiotic that is much stronger than the one I'm currently on so I'm excited to try that. I'm still doing my daily shakeology in a smoothie or pancake form also. Other supplements I take most days include collagen - I like THIS one and I also have a Magnesium supplement that I take too. I have THIS one. Foodwise I've really been on a steak fries kick! haha I dip them in melted ghee or top them with cheese - so good! I'm usually a big chopped salad fan for lunch, but I feel like my body is digesting cooked veggies better so zucchini has been a go to this week.
Workouts - I'm living life this week by going what I feel like doing. A few days this week I actually woke up before my alart and FELT like working out. So I did. I have been loving the workouts on my beachbody on demand - I can stream over 500 workouts from home - Just have to log into my account and I pull them up on my surface pro. This week I did Autumn Calabrese's "Dirty Dozen" workout that is a total body strength training of 12 moves (done in 30 minutes) and I also did her "Core Cardio" workout that is a total body cardio/strength workout (also done in 30 minutes) I like how I can go at MY ability and MY pace! With my nursing schedule varying from being at work by 0515 to as late as 1000 - I like that I don't have to spend extra time driving to and from the gym ESPECIALLY as it continues to get cold. This morning I switched things up and went to the gym and did a 5.5 mile run. Listening to what feels good for me!
There is a new beachbody program coming out in January that I'm excited for. Its by the trainer Autumn Calabrese (the gal that did Hammer and Chisel and 21 day fix/fix extreme) - The program is called 80 Day Obsession. Each day there is a 30 minute workout that will be streamed LIVE on on demand - (and will be there for you for you if you are unable to do the workout at that exact time) It is a "build a booty and shred your abs" program - so I'm pumped for that. The results have been incredible for the people that participated in the test group. Honestly I don't want to be OBSESSED with fitness again, but I really love the idea of building a booty, 30 minute workouts and something NEW each day. The program uses weights, slider discs and also circle shaped resistance bands. And of course nutrition is a big thing in this program and utilizes portion control, nutrient timing and the performance line from beachbody too (I seriously love their recovery drink and energize pre workout- because their ingredients are LEGIT!)
Here are Meghan's results after the 80 days. She looks great before too! But I can't get over the muscle toning that happened. Seriously awesome. Would love to have some people do it with me. Fill outTHIS FORM so I can get to know your health goals better and we can figure out if this is right for you or if something else is more suitable.
What are you feeling lately in nutrition, workouts and mindset?
Ever used at home workouts? Any favorite current supplements that you use?
