some people may call me a control freak...and I will admit sometimes that I DO have some issues with control. In this life there are so many things that feel OUT of our control and I'm guilty of wanting to control the things that I can. For some this can spiral downward and take a turn for a worst. I found myself feeling bad about myself this week in a few ways - felt like a true "yuck" physically, felt like a "failure" in not hitting some certain goals in my life (yet) and in my business (yet) - SO to put it in perspective I made a list of what I CAN control...and what I can't.
I started thinking about the things that are bothering me and decided it was time to take a deeper look and put an action plan into place. Feeling bummed SUCKS and it doesn't get me any closer to making progress...right?!?!
1. Feeling bloated, blah and just NOT comfortable this week - there will be weeks like that right? (I wish there weren't!!!) So I brainstormed.
What can I NOT control about this: feeling puffy, the number on the scale, fitting into my clothes differently. craving sweets
What CAN I control: maintaining proper nutrition at meals, drinking lots of water, having a mindset that "this too shall pass, getting more rest, staying consistent in my fitness plan, don't say eff it and eat ALL the chocolate but don't deprive myself either.
2. Hitting my personal income goals and building a business goals
What can I NOT control: people utilizing the resources I give them, whether or not my teammembers choose to work their business, whether or not someone replies to my message, people's feelings and insecurities about my posts.
What CAN I control: live by setting a positive example and be the coach I want my teammates to be, staying consistent in my own workouts, shakeology and nutrition, READING personal development, showing up for the teammates that WANT to work the business and providing them with the resources and follow up.
3. Wanting to find a new way to help and serve more people and help them achieve their goals and having them commit
What can I NOT control: whether or not someone chooses to work with me, someone answers my messages, people negative reaction to a post, whether someone follows through with their fitness and nutrition plan
What CAN I control: keeping my vision of serving others as the forefront, being the genuine person I am, find out people's needs and desires and meet those, keep the focus on helping, maintain consistency in my own behaviors and actions, keep posting with value
Here is my challenge for you. WHAT are YOU struggling with? A health goal? A business goal? It's time to focus on the things that you CAN control and take those measures and implement them. Staying stagnant will NOT get you any closer to meeting them.
Example: You have the goal to lose 10 pounds by December 31st. What CAN you control about this? What you put in your body. Scheduling time to be active. Drinking enough water. Knowing that it WILL feel harder now..but knowing that when you finally hit your goal it will be worth it. SO OFTEN we have these big dreams and plans and we give up on them and say "it doesn't work" when really it's US that aren't doing the work?
