So this post is about to get really REAL with you guys - and I'll try to keep it so it's not TMI! ha! - well...you may or may not know that I've struggled with GI issues for a while and this year it seems to be even worse. Mostly chronic constipation - I've tried soooo many things on my own, but it was time to seek help from the pros! So last Monday I met with a GI doc
She is amazing and definitely made me feel very comfortable...which is SO important since most body issues that have to do with GI can be gross and embarrassing..well to most. I'm a nurse so it takes a lot to gross me out! In order to rule out IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) she is testing me for Celiac Disease, looking for polyps, tumors and other irregularities...and in order to do this I need to under-go two procedures: An EGD and a colonoscopy... That allows them to look down my throat and into my stomach and small intestine and get a small sample of tissue (called a biopsy) and then they will also look in my colon too....
Luckily I'll get to be sleeping for both procedures! I work with the anesthesia department very closely and know I'm in the best of hands - the part that I think that is going to suck the worst is the preparation...
Each bottle gets plenty of laxative added to it...and starting tonight I have to drink a bottle within an hour and then it is followed by another laxative... Today I have been following a "low fiber diet" - so white bread, eggs, chicken, dairy is allowed, potatoes (without the skins) are all allowed.
Breakfast this morning was black coffee with an egg white omlette and a piece of french toast (made on white bread) I also topped it with nut butter which they said was fine as long it was a creamy kind and nothing with chunks/seeds in it. Throughout the day I've been drinking as much water as I can get in! I bought a TON of different drinks to try this week...so we will see what is my favorite!
This was a great distraction this afternoon! I did a painting class with a couple of coworkers - Have you ever done this? I have always wanted to try it but have never been a big fan of any of the paintings! For this one we got to pick out sign and then pick our colors! They all turned out so great! They have a bar here too so you can have a cocktail while you paint..DEFINITELY going to be doing this again! We had a blast! I seriously have the best work family.
Gave this a try when I got home! I bought a few other flavors too - I would say I would rate it 5/10. The lime taste isn't prominent which is fine...but it kind of reminded me of malibu rum. Which to me brought back some memories. ha! But overall not bad! I'm excited to try the other ones I bought - some sparkling, some not.
Well here was my last supper - Sweet potato fries, eggs scrambled with turkey and daiya cheese....
Tomorrow morning I can have a light breakfast before 9 am and then its CLEAR LIQUIDS from here on out...
stocked on drinks, broth, etc -
Any suggestions for me?
