Doesn't it seem like vegan and all the nut milks are all the rage these days? So why are so many people going cow milk free? I'm not here to "convince" you one way is better than another, just simply to share my own experience with you and some of the research I have dug up!
I got some feedback that you guys like my favorites/recap posts! So here we go! Here is what I've been loving lately in food, workouts, beauty and life!
Being a nurse is awesome. The night shift is not. At least it's not for me. Kudos to you straight night shifters...When I was a new graduate I started off by working 12 hour shifts in the ICU - a mix of day shifts and night shifts. It was either 0700-1930 or 1900 to 0730 - and I OFTEN switched back and forth a LOT. Having opposing sleep "schedules" within the SAME week sucks. Especially if you are a morning person like me! Anywho...now that I'm working in the PACU I work day shifts! Yay for me! I do however work some on call - which to you who don't know...means you carry a pager overnight and you are paged for any emergencies that go on during the night. Well this past week I ended up pulling an all nighter..and while visiting with some nurses on the floor we were talking about how hard working nights is on your health. BOOM. Post inspiration! I've seen quite a few of these posted on instagram so I thought I would bring it to the blog! Maybe some of you already know these things about me...but I guess we will find out!
TIS THE SEASON for vision boards, resolutions, goals, crazy full gyms and words of affirmation. In the past I have set resolutions...but it just didn't work for me. If it does for you - that's great! But thinking about goals a year at a time is overwhelming to me...So this year I'm doing things a bit differently.
Took some time this morning updating my page (always an ongoing process) I have all (well almost all) of my recipes now officially on my Recipe page and am working on making all of my posts more easily accessible and linking them to the blog page also!
Winter blues got you down? I find myself in a funk sometimes too ESPECIALLY when its 40 below in North Dakota. I have a magnet on my fridge that says "40 Below in ND keeps the Rifraf out" - unfortunately this does not mean those downer feelings...
So how can you feel happier when the negative vibes are lingering?
Those are LITERALLY the words that came out of the mouth recently of one of my clients - and in a world of "low carb" "intermittent fasting" "portion fix" "weight watchers" "if it fits your macros" "high protein" "high fat" "low fat" - I really can't say I blame her. It's freaking confusing - You know you want to "be healthier" but how in the WORLD do you know where to start? And then you overthink it...stress about it...and dangn't stress causes weight gain and overeating and water retention and DAMN you are back at square one!
But for real though...am I wrong?
I'm not a certified nutritionist (but I am a Registered Nurse) - so I'm just here to share what has helped me, has helped others and my own personal experiences in hopes that it somehow helps YOU or someone you know!
